Applying Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream
How do I apply the cold sore cream? How thin or thick of a coating should I use?
Apply Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream to the affected area five times a day at approximately four hourly intervals for four days. Wash your hands, apply the cream with a cotton swab or your fingers and wash your hands again. Use enough to completely cover the sore and the surrounding area.Learn more
What happens if I swallow some Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream?
If you accidentally use too much or swallow the cream, it is unlikely that any untoward effects would occur. However, if you swallow a large amount of the cream, it is recommended that you speak to a doctor or pharmacist.
Using Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream
When should I use Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream?
It's best to start applying Zovirax Cold Sore Cream as soon as possible, preferably at the first sign of symptoms (e.g. tingling or itching). You can still start to treat your cold sore once the blister has appeared.Find out more.

Will the scab on my cold sore interfere with absorption of Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream?
Once the scab has formed, your cold sore has nearly healed. Continue applying the product as directed for four days. Or if not healed by then, up to 10 days in total.Learn about the scabbing stage
How often do I need to apply Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream?
Apply to the affected area five times a day at approximately four hourly intervals for four days.
What if I miss a dose of Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream?
Apply the cream as soon as you remember and then reapply the next dose on schedule.
Can I use Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream for longer than 10 days?
No, Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream is not recommended for longer than 10 days. If you still have a cold sore after 10 days you should contact your healthcare professional for advice.
Is Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream suitable for everyone to use?
Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream is well tolerated and can be used by adults and children.
Can I use Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream during pregnancy or if I’m breastfeeding?
